Kindling Stack started in 2020 during COVID, with a simple idea, a few bags of kindling, and a lot of determination.
The idea originally came from my dad, who developed an efficient way to cut, pack, and prepare quality kindling wood. He told me that if I could sell the bags, I could keep the profit - so I started delivering them myself around our hometown in Ermelo, South Africa. At the time, I was still studying at university. Between classes, weekends, and holidays, I would come home and continue making deliveries. Sometimes it was just small batches, with me and our gardener loading up the car and doing deliveries together. Sometimes I even went alone. Other times, while I was away at university, I would get orders and beg my mom or dad to help me deliver them for me.
Over the years, there were seasons where I was more committed than others because of my university schedule, but through it all, I always loved doing business. I loved selling a product that I genuinely believed in, and I’ve always loved the atmosphere and feeling that a fire brings during winter. Now, after finishing university, I’m excited to grow Kindling Stack into something bigger than I ever imagined.
What started as a small side project has become a brand built on local production, family support, and a genuine love for bringing people together around the fire. Because to us, winter fires are more than just warmth - they create memories.
